Delta Dental of North Carolina supports the community through financial contributions to organizations for oral health services and education.

Our contributions play a critical role in fulfilling our mission to advance the public’s oral health by improving access to dental care and promoting increased oral health education across the state.

Our contributions include:

Delta Dental of North Carolina funds an annual $1,000 scholarship which is given by the Dental Foundation of North Carolina. The Dental Foundation exists for the sole purpose of raising and managing privately funded scholarships to benefit the University of North Carolina’s dental students, faculty and programs. Delta Dental of North Carolina established this scholarship as a means of awarding a deserving UNC dental student and of honoring Dr. Glenn Bitler, the founder of Delta Dental of North Carolina.
To expand our mission and core purpose of promoting access or oral health, Delta Dental of North Carolina created the Delta Dental of North Carolina Community Outreach Program. This grant program is designed to provide financial assistance to clinics or facilities that provide dental services to citizens of North Carolina who would otherwise not be able to obtain dental care. The Delta Dental of North Carolina Community Outreach Program annually awards $10,000 to dental clinics in North Carolina which meet the criteria of improving access to dental care for a deserving population.
Delta Dental of North Carolina provides toothbrushes to homeless shelters and to Emergency Response Teams after hurricanes or other emergency situations.
North Carolina Dental Society’s Missions of Mercy provides free dental care at various times and locations throughout North Carolina. In 2009, Delta Dental of North Carolina donated toothbrushes to the Mission of Mercy clinic in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
